CompactLogix 5370 Controllers

Now replaced by the 5380 series, the 1769 model CompactLogix™ 5370 Controllers are now best suited to small to medium applications where a MicroLogix might once have been used. They introduce the benefits of the ‘Logix’ engine and Integrated Architecture™ to the space where a MicroLogix 1100 or 1400 controller would traditionally have been selected.

Such benefits include User-Defined Data Tables (UDT), Add-On-Instructions (AOI) and NetLinx architecture (EtherNet/IP, ControlNet and DeviceNet). With some models featuring onboard IO (refer to picture below), they can operate as a standalone controller.

Migrations from MicroLogix with onboard IO might be easier, reducing the need to shuffle all the IO addresses. This is because onboard IO starts at address 0, but slot based IO starts at address 1. Note that while the 1769-L1 range matches to 1734 PointIO, the L2 and L3 require 1769 CompactIO.

1769-L1

Typical models are 1769-L16ER-BB1B, 1769-L18ER-BB1B, 1769-L18ERM-BB1B, 1769-L19ER-BB1B, where the 16 / 18 / 19 represent the memory size. All units have 16 DI and 16DO onboard. The M suffix refers to Motion capability.

1769-L2

Typical models are 1769L24ER-QB1B, -L24ER-QBFC1B, -L27ERM-QBFC1B, with memory ranging from 0.75 to 1MB
The QB1B unit has 16 DI and 16DO onboard, while the other two CPUs also have 4 universal analog input, 2 analog output, 4 channels HSC.

1769-L3

Typical models are 1769-L30ER, -L30ERM, -L30ER-NSE, -L33ER, -L33ERM, L36ERM, -L37ERM, -L38ERM. Memory size ranges from 1MB to 5MB. L3 CPUs do NOT have onboard IO.
